Nightmare 4K Ultra HD presents the definitive release of one of the most reviled, controversial, and misunderstood horror films of the 1980s. Written and directed by Romano Scavolini, this unflinching descent into psychosexual violence follows a homicidal mental patient who escapes an experimental drug program and embarks on a five-day killing spree that stretches from the peep shows of 42nd Street to the blood-soaked shores of Florida.

Anchored by an enduringly disturbing performance from Baird Stafford, Nightmare is relentless in its brutality and nihilism, pushing exploitation cinema to its most extreme limits. Released in the UK as Nightmares in a Damaged Brain, the film became infamous as a video nasty and even led to the imprisonment of its distributor. Long maligned and censored, it has since been re-evaluated as a raw and uncompromising artifact of grindhouse horror.

Assembled from the internegative and various foreign print sources, this edition represents the most complete version of the film ever created, presented in UHD alongside an extensive slate of interviews, commentaries, and archival materials that contextualize its troubled legacy.
