Misunderstood Limited Edition Blu-ray presents Luigi Comencini’s devastating and beautifully observed portrait of childhood grief, innocence and emotional isolation.

John Duncombe, the British consul in Florence, returns home following the death of his wife to find his two young sons unaware of the tragedy that has shattered their family. Choosing to tell only his eldest son Andrea the truth while shielding the fragile younger Milo from it, Duncombe struggles to hold the family together as grief quietly transforms their lives.

Balancing moments of youthful joy with profound sadness, Misunderstood has earned a lasting reputation as one of the great cinematic studies of childhood, standing alongside classics such as The 400 Blows and The Spirit of the Beehive. A Palme d’Or nominee at the Cannes Film Festival, the film features a powerful performance from Anthony Quayle and remarkable work from its young cast.
