Time to Play: Films by Jacques Rozier LE Blu-ray Set collects the complete feature film work of one of the most distinctive yet under-recognized voices of the French New Wave. Across five decades, director Jacques Rozier created a cinema built around chance encounters, improvised journeys and the emotional rhythms of everyday life.
This limited edition five-disc Blu-ray box set presents Rozier’s five feature films alongside several of his early short works, newly restored and accompanied by extensive archival and newly produced extras.
In Adieu Philippine (1962), two young women and a drifting young man escape to Corsica for a fleeting summer before his looming military service in Algeria. Near Orouët (1971) follows three friends leaving Paris for a slow, sun-drenched seaside holiday. The Castaways of Turtle Island (1976) transforms a Robinson Crusoe-style Caribbean adventure into chaotic absurdity. Maine-Ocean Express (1986) throws together strangers on a wildly comic journey across languages and cultures. Rozier’s final feature Fifi Martingale (2001) is a backstage theatre farce about superstition, ego and creative disaster.
Together these films showcase Rozier’s playful storytelling, humanistic observation and singular place within the history of French cinema.
