As fascist forces close in on victory, twelve-year-old Carlos is sent to a remote orphanage housing the children of left-wing families. Isolated and scarred by violence, the orphanage hides dark secrets, including the restless spirit of a murdered boy named Santi, who drifts through its corridors seeking justice. As Carlos uncovers the truth behind Santi’s death, the boundaries between the living and the dead begin to dissolve.
 
A meditation on innocence lost, memory, and unresolved trauma, The Devil’s Backbone laid the thematic groundwork for much of del Toro’s later work. This limited UK edition brings the film to 4K Ultra HD with extensive archival and newly produced extras, premium packaging, and collectible printed materials.
