The Burmese Harp 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray UK import presents Kon Ichikawa’s haunting antiwar masterpiece in a luminous 4K restoration from the Criterion Collection. Set in Burma at the end of World War II, the film follows a defeated Japanese regiment that finds solace and unity through song amid the devastation of surrender.

When one private, believed dead, survives and wanders the countryside disguised as a Buddhist monk, he confronts the spiritual aftermath of war and the human cost left behind. Shot in hushed black and white, Ichikawa’s film is a profoundly moving meditation on loss, reconciliation, and the fragile coexistence of beauty and death.
