Wendigo
George (Jake Weber, Dawn of the Dead [2004]), his wife Kim (Patricia Clarkson, High Art, TV’s Six Feet Under), and their son Miles (Erik Per Sullivan, TV’s Malcolm in the Middle) leave Manhattan for a winter retreat in Upstate New York. On their drive, George hits a deer on an icy road, triggering a snowbound supernatural confrontation with the titular Wendigo, a legendary Native American beast.
 
Larry Fessenden’s long-awaited follow-up to his breakout feature, Habit (1995), Wendigo 4K Blu-ray presents a distinctly American folk horror film shot entirely on location in New York's Catskills, on Super 16mm by director of photography Terry Stacey (American Splendor). Vinegar Syndrome proudly presents this icy, DIY monster movie in a new director-approved 4K restoration from its original 16mm negatives.
 
The Last Winter
At a remote Alaskan oil base, base leader Ed Pollack (Ron Perlman, Hellboy) clashes with eco-scientist James Hoffman (James Le Gros, Living in Oblivion), who is concerned about the drilling’s environmental impact amid unusually warm conditions. When crew members start dying and experiencing hallucinations, Hoffman struggles to rationalize the increasingly supernatural events.
 
Following Wendigo, The Last Winter 4K Blu-ray delivers a chilling eco-horror tale shot in Alaska and Iceland. Fessenden’s only feature shot entirely on 35mm, it’s a claustrophobic and cold folk horror film reminiscent of John Carpenter’s The Thing. Vinegar Syndrome presents this ambitious thriller newly restored in 4K from its original negative.
