The Swimmer Blu-ray arrives in a 3-disc deluxe edition from Grindhouse Releasing, featuring a new restoration, multiple interviews, rare archival materials and a remastered soundtrack CD. Adapted from John Cheever’s acclaimed short story, this haunting late-1960s cult classic stars Burt Lancaster in one of his most unforgettable performances.

Ned Merrill appears at a friend’s backyard pool on a quiet summer afternoon and decides, on a whim, to “swim home” across the affluent suburbs — travelling pool by pool through the lives, memories and illusions he has carefully constructed. As the journey unfolds, his confident veneer begins to crack, revealing a suburban nightmare of denial, loss and emotional decay. Directed by Frank Perry, The Swimmer blends surrealism, drama and social satire into a uniquely disorienting vision of the American dream’s collapse.
